SOE can't get enough Star Wars?

Tralmek's picture

The rumor mill has been spinning since September that Sony Online Entertainment is working on another Star Wars MMO. This one is to be built on the same browser-based game engine they use for Free Realms and will be called Clone Wars.

Set in the Clone Wars era, the game will focus on a casual-social gameplay style much like Free Realms, and will therefore not be a direct competitor for the existing Star Wars licensed SOE MMO, Star Wars Galaxies, nor the upcoming Knights of the Old Republic game from Bioware.

Ambulation, Walking in Stations, Incarna

So many names, so few mentions of a release date. How I long for this long-overdue feature of EVE Online to come to fruition. It seems that WiS has a new name, a new official name, Incarna (incarnation, I suppose). It has been reported that Incarna will come after the winter expansion Dominion and before the new EVE game Dust 514. Dominion will be coming in this fall/winter and Dust 514 will reportedly be released sometime in 2010. One would logically conclude that Incarna will become the Spring 2010 expansion, putting it around March-May. Though there is still no confirmed date.

Bioware & LucasArts say they're making another Star Wars MMO...actually the way they talk, you'd think they were making the first Star Wars MMO. They like to ignore SWG.

I'm Heroic! Who says I'm not?

So I tried the City of Heroes trial again for like the fourth time over the game's life, and I finally took the bait and subscribed. I've been playing a tank which isn't my usual role in games--more often than not I find myself in a support-only role. But I've been enjoying the experience for the most part. The game is a lot of fun, despite the fact that it is clearly showing its age, and has a lot of bugs for a game that seems to be entering the "maintenance" stage of its lifespan.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Has it really been that long since I posted anything? Wow...

My past several months have mainly been filled with EVE Online. It's an absolutely amazing game, once you get over the learning cliff. But they've made great strides over the past few years. Accessibility for newbies has never been better.

Speaking of my "immature" Star Wars stuff

I was pleasantly surprised today when I received a Christmas 3-pack of Galactic Heroes action figures. The fact that my six-year-old nephew and eight-year-old niece also received Galactic Heroes 3-packs did nothing to dampen my joy at getting a pack myself--I didn't feel less mature for having gotten the same thing.

"I'm too mature to play video games"

Actually, I believe the line was phrased "I've grown and matured beyond video games." And it would have been more accurate if he'd stated, "My girlfriend told me I was too immature for her if I kept playing video games."

I was wrong, It came today.

Actually, the Postal Service was wrong, they sent me an email saying it was delivered, when in fact, it was not. I'm going to see if I can install the game tomorrow and give it a try. The packaging was completely intact. I'll upload a pic of it later, the Collector's Edition is really cool, especially when you get it for $10 off of eBay. Updated, photos added.

A Bittersweet Delivery

Well, Age of Conan arrived yesterday (still in my mailbox). It's bittersweet news, since I can't install it yet. I'm keeping busy with the XBOX though, and the updates to the site that I can do. I heard recently that Age of Conan has been falling apart, the big complaint is that the first 20 levels are amazing, and the rest of the game is sorely lacking (this could probably be said for most games in the genre), and I guess the game's population started at 700k strong, and took a sharp nosedive a few months after launch. I'm going to look into this, since it has me wondering.
